Continue on with this next video about Mother Wounds and other ways that your heart may have been wounded. Following the video, you will take some time for a Restoration Guide exercise to explore the origins of your wounds.
Before starting your exercise, let’s briefly summarize the examples of other wounds you may have received to help you uncover the source of your wounded heart:
Remember, the battle may be in the mind, but the target is your heart; to get it to shut down. These wounds to your heart affect everything else you do.
Restoration Guide Exercise 5, Pages 8-9
How was your heart wounded? Take time to identify factors such as: How old were you? What specifically happened? Was it finding out about your parent’s divorce? Was it some kind of physical or sexual trauma? Was it finding out about an affair your spouse had? Was it some kind of abuse or neglect or betrayal?
Take as long as you need and then return to this section.
Reflection Question:
How does it feel to dig into the true source for your wounded heart? Painful? Freeing? Does it help you understand why and how you are coping as an adult?
Important Scripture from this video:
PSALMS 27:10 NLT
"Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close."
